President: Master Builders Association Eastern Cape

Born in Grahamstown on 18 September 1950. He matriculated in 1968 at PJ Olivier High school in Grahamstown and underwent National Services training in the Airforce in Cape Town. He studied at the University of the Orange Free State in Bloemfontein and graduated with a B.Sc. Quantity Degree (Cum Laude) in 1974. Whilst at Varsity he served on the Student council and several other Committees. He was awarded a Gold Medal for being an outstanding student by the Association of SA Quantity Surveyors.

In 1975 he joined Schoombie Hartmann Partnership in East London as a Quantity Surveyor. In 1980 he returned to Grahamstown and joined CM Heunis Building Contractors cc where he was appointed Managing Director in 1987.

His professional activities include:

  • Membership of the association of South African Quantity Surveyors and South African Council for Quantity Surveyors
  • Executive Council member and President of MBA East Cape and Executive Member of MBSA
  • Serves on various Boards and Associations in Grahamstown community.

As a sportsman he played rugby for the Shimlas and captained Free State under twenty team as well as Border Rugby Team.
